Student Union

Every student of the college shall be a member of one or more Associations according to his/ her optional subjects.
The Principal shall be the Patron of all the Associations and the Presidents and the Vice-Presidents will be nominated by the Principal from among the members of the staff of the faculty concerned. Each Association shall have an elected Secretary. The electorate for the various Association are :

  1. Students of the degree class of the respective major subjects (For Malayalam students, who study part I (Malayalam).
  2. Post-Graduate Students

The Union will have an elected Students’ Chairman and a Secretary who are elected by the electorate or will be elected by the secretaries of the various associations and is strictly the discretion of the Principal.

Only final year degree students will be permitted to contest for the post of office-bearers of the Associations, the College Union.

ELIGIBILITY OF STUDENTS TO CONTEST

A student contesting the election should be a regular fulltime student of aided or unaided courses and has no arrear paper and with 75% attendance in the previous semester. The contesting candidates should not have criminal antecedents and affiliation to any political or communal outfit. Nor there should be any disciplinary action pending against them in the College/ University.

CODE OF CONDUCT

No election related expenditure will be permitted. Corrupt practices should be prohibited. Even printed wall posters, pamphlets and handbills are banned. No outsider should be allowed into the campus during the days of election process. No procession, either campaign or victory, will be permitted within or outside the campus. In the event of violence or factional clashes, the Council will cancel the whole election process and inform the decision to the University Authority concerned.
Lectures and meetings shall be arranged only with the consent of the President, the Vice-President and the Principal.
No intimation or report shall be sent to the press by the Secretaries or other office-bearers without the written permission of the Principal who is the ultimate authority on all matters connected with the Associations.

OBJECTIVES :
  1. To arrange as many lectures and debates as possible on subjects of general, literary, scientific and cultural interest.
  2. To afford opportunities for students to train themselves in the art of public speaking and to develop qualities of leadership
  3. To stimulate interest in the discussion of problems of academic importance
